When Your Body Feels Like a Sinking Boat

There are days when you can’t quite explain what’s wrong.

You’re tired, but it’s more than tired.

You’re emotional, but you don’t know why.

Your energy disappears. Your sleep feels strange. Your body feels unfamiliar. Little things suddenly feel overwhelming.

And somewhere inside, there’s this quiet feeling…

Something isn’t right.

You try to carry on anyway.

You smile. You work. You take care of everyone. You tell yourself you’ll feel better tomorrow.

But inside, it can feel a little like being on a sinking boat — trying desperately to keep everything together while wondering how much longer you can keep doing it.

If you’ve ever felt this way, you’re not imagining it. And you’re not failing.

Your body is always communicating with you.

Your hormones, nervous system, emotions, sleep, stress, and energy are all connected. When you’ve been under pressure for too long, sometimes your whole system simply starts saying, “I need you to slow down.”

And perhaps that’s where healing begins.

Not with forcing yourself to feel better.

Not with pretending everything is fine.

But with finally stopping long enough to say:

“Okay. I hear you.”

A Gentle Way Back to Yourself

Energy healing practices such as Reiki can offer a quiet space to do exactly that.

You don’t have to know what’s wrong.

You don’t have to explain every feeling.

You don’t even have to have the right words.

You can simply lie down, breathe, and allow yourself to be held in a moment of stillness.

In Reiki and chakra traditions, different energy centres are associated with different parts of the body and emotional experience — including areas connected with the thyroid, adrenal glands, reproductive system, and other endocrine functions.

Whether you see this spiritually or simply as a way of bringing your attention back into your body, the invitation is the same:

Come back to yourself.

Let your shoulders soften.

Let your breath become slower.

Let yourself feel whatever you’ve been too busy to feel.

You Don’t Have to Fix Everything Today

Maybe you’ve been trying so hard to get yourself “back to normal.”

But what if you don’t need to fight your body?

What if your body isn’t working against you?

What if it’s been trying, in its own quiet way, to get your attention?

Sometimes healing begins with something very small.

A breath.

A pause.

A hand resting gently over your heart or belly.

A moment where nobody needs anything from you.

A moment where you don’t have to be strong.

And slowly, you begin to feel that you’re not sinking anymore.

You’re still here.

You’re breathing.

You’re listening.

And maybe, just maybe, there is a way back to shore.

You don’t have to find the whole way today.

Just take the next gentle breath.
